Announcements 4/7/2013

Prayer Meetings: Beginning in April, we will hold our weekly prayer meeting in various homes near you. We will meet in groups in homes the first three weeks of each month; on the last week of the month we will meet as a congregation at the church on Wednesday at 7 p.m. as usual. Please check with Pastor Colin or one of the deacons if you need help finding which home to go to.

Men’s Meeting: The next men’s meeting will be Thusday, April 18, 7 p.m. at the Chandras’ home. We will have a discussion (as at previous meetings) on a topic to be announced.

Nursing Home Service: The next nursing home service will be Thursday, April 25, at 10 a.m. Please let Pastor Colin know if you’re coming.

Women’s Tea: The next women’s meeting will May 18, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be a special speaker, Sarah Beals. More details to follow.

Holy Communion: We will hold our next Holy Communion service on Sunday, May 5.

Announcements for March 24, 2003

Our service schedule will be different for this week before Easter:

  • There will be no prayer meeting on Wednesday, March 27
  • We will gather for a Good Friday Service on Friday, March, 29, at 7 p.m. We will celebrate the Lord’s Supper together.
  • On Saturday, March 30, we will have a work day to prepare for our special services. We will have two times session, one beginning at 8:30 a.m. and another at 1:00 p.m.
  • On Easter Sunday, we will have breakfast together instead of Sunday School, starting at 9:00 a.m. Our worship service will be at the regular time, 10:30 a.m.

 

Announcements, March 7, 2013

We’re looking forward to our Spring Conference this Saturday, March 9. Please plan on being with us; these conferences are always a special and beneficial time for our congregation. Our speaker will be Paul Mullen, and the topic is “The Theology of the Family.”

8:30 – 9:00 Pasties and coffee
9 -10:30 – First Session (five minute stretch in middle)
10:30- 11 – break (pastries + coffee)
11- 12:30 pm – Second Session (five minute stretch)
12:30-1:30 – Lunch
1:30 – 3 – Session 3 (five minute stretch)
3 – Dismissal

Notes
* As always, we will have nursery for 0-2 years old.
* We will also provide as-needed care for children 3-7 downstairs. We are hiring Christian, trustworthy teenagers to watch your kids for as long as you want. You can have them downstairs for the entire time, part of the sessions, etc
* You will need to provide your own lunch. Of course there are several restaurants in the area, ranging from pizza to Subway to Not Your Average Joes (and many besides).

On Sunday morning, Paul Mullen will preach on the theme “Given to Hospitality.”

OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS:

There will be no “The Way” Bible Study this Sunday evening, March 10.

Our monthly nursing home meeting will be Thursday, March 21. (Note the change in date.)

Any who wish to be baptized should talk with Pastor Colin in time for our quarterly baptismal service on Sunday, March 24.

Announcements 27 January 2013

Thanks to everyone who participated in our work day this past Saturday.

The Nursing Home Service is this Thursday at 10 a.m. Please contact Pastor Colin if you wish to help.

The teens will hold an Arctic Blast Youth Activity at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, with a special speaker from the WILDS of New England, Josh Prather.

The first Men’s Meeting of the year will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 21. Details to follow.

Announcements Jan 13

Baby Shower:  All ladies are invited to attend a baby shower at the home of Deepa Chandra this Saturday, January 19 at 10:00 a.m. to celebrate the upcoming arrival of baby Williams.  Rebecca is registered at Babies ‘R Us and Target.  Please see Kate or Deepa if you have any questions.

Business Meeting:  Our next business meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 23 at 7:00 p.m.  We have a lot of information to review and discuss for this upcoming year so please plan to be here.

Work Day:  Our first church work day of the year is scheduled for Saturday, January 26 from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., then from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Teen Fellowship:  All teens, 7th grade and up, are invited to our next fellowship on Saturday, February 9 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  Josh Prathers from the Wilds of New England will be our special speaker.

Young Adult BibleStudy: The Bible study resumes its study of Romans next Sunday evening, January 20, at 6 p.m. at the home of Pastor Colin and Tonia Landry.

Christmas announcements

On Saturday, December 8, the young adult Bible study (The Way) will visit New York City to participate in relief efforts.

On Thursday, December 13, the Nursing Home Ministry will hold a Christmas service at 10:00 a.m.

On December 16, EBC will have our annual special Christmas service. There will be no service that morning. Instead, we will gather at 4:00 p.m. for coffee, cocoa, cookies, and the like. At 5:00 p.m. we will have a special service. Family, friends, and everyone else are welcome.

On Christmas Eve, December 24, EBC will have hold a candlelight service at 6:00 p.m.

You are invited to join Read the Fathers, a program to read the fathers of the Christian church seven pages per day.

Fall Festival

This year’s fall conference will feature Pastor John Beals of Immanuel Baptist Church in Brockton, Massachusetts. Pastor Beals will speak for three nights on the subject of prayer. The conference will meet at the following times:

  • Thursday, November 1, 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Friday, November 2, 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 3, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The fall conference is always a time of spiritual refreshment and good fellowship, and we hope you will join us.

We will also be enjoying a meal together following the Sunday morning service of the fall festival.  We ask each family to bring 12 sandwiches and a dessert to share.  The sandwiches can be anything from tuna salad to something more exotic – whatever your heart desires.

1. This Saturday (Sept. 8) we will have a *work day*. We will be
working from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., then from 12:30 p.m to 4:00 p.m.
The church will provide pizza for lunch in between. Please come and
help if you’re able. Come as you can; leave as you must.

2. The Young Adult Bible Study resumes at Colin and Tonia’s home this
coming Sunday evening (Sept. 9) at 6 p.m.

Vacation Bible School:  VBS begins Monday morning, July 16 through July 20 from 10:00 ‘til noon for ages K-5.  Kids, start inviting your friends now.  Flyers are available for you to distribute if you would like to take some home.  Please see Kate for those.

Business Meeting:  Wednesday, July 25 at 7:00 p.m.

EBC Directory: Please take a minute and look over the current EBC directory.  If any changes need to be made, please see Kate ASAP or e-mail those changes to her.  All changes need to be sent no later than July 8, please.
