We, the members of Evangelical Baptist Church, are worshipers of the one true God, followers of Jesus Christ, among those who hope in His name, called to eternal life, and baptized by the Holy Spirit into one body. We have been led by the Holy Spirit to EBC to together find out the ways of God as the Holy Scriptures reveal Him, to work out our salvation with fear and trembling, to love one another, and to minister to the people of Nonantum, greater Newton, south Watertown, greater Boston (through natural contacts and family members), and people throughout the world (through international students and support of world-wide missions). Because of the number of campuses in greater Boston, we feel a specific burden to hold out the Gospel to students.

We pledge to love one another. To strive side by side for the faith of the gospel. To maintain the spirit of unity in an atmosphere of righteousness. To be slow to take offense and always to be ready for reconciliation. To forbear one another and forgive one another. To watch out for each other and, if the situation calls for it, to bear one another’s burdens.

We pledge to strive to announce the Gospel to all the people of Nonantum, nearby villages of Newton, and south Watertown. To intentionally evangelize our family members, neighbors, colleagues, and fellow students. To pray together over the contacts the Lord gives. To disciple those that show interest in spiritual things. To continually improve our abilities to evangelize and spiritually mentor.

We pledge to pray diligently together as a church. Corporate prayer will be the modus operandi of EBC.

We pledge to position our lives to hear the Word of God and to structure our lives to obey.

We pledge to welcome one another, but not to quarrel over opinions.

We pledge to submit cheerfully to the leadership of this church as those in leadership roles serve faithfully within the authority of the Holy Scriptures.

We pledge to contribute cheerfully and liberally to the financial support of the church, giving special attention to local and world evangelization and care for the needy.

We pledge to attend faithfully the services of the church.

As families within the church, we pledge to strive for family unity and happiness. To adhere to the specific directives laid out for each family member in the Holy Scriptures. To strive to bring up our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. To pray together and to seek the will of the Lord together.

As students and/or singles, we pledge to care especially “about the things of the Lord, how to please the Lord.”

For every individual, we pledge to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. To maintain our devotional life. To thank and honor the Lord daily. To confess our sins daily. To build up EBC in love by contributing to the health of this body. To even-handedly accept rebuke, discipline, and trials. To strive for self control. To be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment. To refrain from gossip and backbiting. To live holy lives toward God and separate from religious apostasy and worldliness as we strive to do everything, whether in word or in action, to the honor and glory of God. To eagerly await for the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
