Proverbs 25:1

These also are proverbs of Solomon which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied. “At the least, the proverbs in 25:2-15 were originally addressed to budding court officials, a setting matching this superscription…But as proverbs, these pedagogic universals now serve as paradigms of many other situations and address all Israel.” - Waltke, 302

Hezekiah, king of Judah, led a revival in the nation. The substance of that revival was retrieving the words of the Holy Spirit that had been obscured for hundreds of years. David (2 Chron 29:30) and Solomon’s writings became relevant again. Daily life was once more concerned with God’s commandments (2 Chron 31:20, 21).

Revival of God’s people has been always conspicuous by authoritative, reverent proclamation of God’s word and lingering prayer.

Bible Reading: Romans 15: 1-6

Some things that we do are on the way to the goal. Well, V. 6 is brushing up to the goal. God is uniquely glorified when believers live in harmony so that in one voice they glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

This harmony is threatened by this: the insistence on pleasing ourselves.
